Orders can be paid for using PayPal or a credit card via Stripe, one of the industry leaders in payment processing.
Paying Via PayPal
When electing to pay for orders via PayPal, you will be redirected to PayPal for the actual payment collection. There you will log in with your PayPal account and complete the payment sending processing, or you can choose to just pay with a credit card if you do not have a PayPal account.
Paying With a Credit Card via Stripe
When you elect to pay for orders with a credit card, your payment will be processed by Stripe. While you will remain on my site, the actual payment processing, like the rest of the store, is an embedded PCI-certified application provided by Ecwid and the whole store is secured through 128-bit SSL encryption, including the payment collection. If you’d like to read more about this technology, please feel free to read the Ecwid documentation.
Why no checks?
Unfortunately, at this time I’ve chosen to accept check payments due to the greater potential for fraudulent payments and the necessary delays accepting check payments would cause in processing orders. For the same reason, I’ve decided not to accept money orders, which are even more difficult to validate due to the number of places that offer them.
Regardless of whether you pay using PayPal or via Stripe, rest assured that I personally will NEVER see any of your payment information or have access to it. Even Ecwid does not get your payment information, it is purely between you and PayPal or Stripe. On my part, I just get a confirmation code, the actual payment amount, and, in the case of PayPal, a checkmark to indicate if your shipping address has been verified by them.
If you order any of my books and it is shipped to someone in Texas, I am required by law to collect state sales tax, so you will see an 8.25% tax added to your order in your cart. This tax applies to both the items being purchased and the shipping charges. By the same law, the sales of digital goods also requires collecting sales tax, so the 8.25% will be added for those items if your billing address is in Texas.
Unless a product is marked as being a preorder or on backorder, I will generally ship out orders within 72 hours of receipt and payment confirmation. Orders will be shipped using whichever method you selected at checked out. The shopping cart system will automatically show you the lowest cost options first, and remove any that are not applicable for your shipping address.
Once your order has been dropped off to the appropriate shipping company for send out, I’ll update your order details with the tracking number (where possible; some methods do not allow for this) and you’ll receive an email update with that number.
The time it takes for an item to arrive is dependent on the shipping method chosen and can be delayed due to weather issues.
